Kiwi girls ‘Chasing the Great’ this Father’s Day

Still glowing from the kiwi success at the 2016 Rio Olympics, we were so proud to see our female sportswomen shine, winning the majority 11 of 18 medals overall.

From the thrill of Lisa Carrington’s two medal win to the heartwarming story of Nikki Hamblin’s Olympic spirit, our female contingent have fuelled our pride and there is no doubt that as a nation, our sportswomen have grown steadily in number, strength and ability since our first female Olympian, long jumper Yvette Williams won gold at Helsinki in 1952.

These fabulous results will be pure gold for one of our latest new promoters the Forward Foundation; a registered New Zealand charity at the forefront of embracing and encouraging our young female athletes by creating development and leadership opportunities in a sporting environment.

Empowering the youth of today to make their mark on the future is an inspiring notion and one we’re always keen to support in whatever way we can, so we’re delighted to share their upcoming fundraising event taking place on Father’s Day Sunday 4 September at the Hoyts Cinema, Riccarton.

Based in Christchurch the Forward Foundation run an Ambassador Programme that aims to increase participation in girls’ sports by identifying young female game changers and enabling them to inspire those around them to participate in sport, and they are currently fundraising to assist with the development of this initiative.

This Father’s Day, in support of their fundraising efforts, the Forward Foundation are holding a screening of Chasing the Great, an insightful portrayal that weaves Richie McCaw’s life story into his final season as an All Black, and reveals the determination and mental toughness of an international sporting legend who still sees himself as an ‘ordinary guy’ from small town New Zealand.

A perfect opportunity for a father-daughter date, or a whole family affair and a great opportunity to support the efforts of an inspiring organisation. Get your tickets today!
